About the Course : This 06 months ( Weekly One day ) course provides instruction in digital photography, emphasising the relationship between new digital imaging processes & film photographic techniques. Assigned class discussion will address contemporary issues in digital photography. Experiments with Light, Color and Elements & Context will be central to the course.
The course includes instruction in camera operation, use of lights & shadows, the art of photography & final product. Students will be given an exposure to different fields of professional photography like Wedding Photography, Product Photography, Fashion Photography, Event Photography, Pictorial Photography, News Photography, Architectural Documentation Photography, Portrait Photography, Sports photography etc.
This course will give the learner a better grasp of his chosen tool and the skills to make successful images. Focus will be on core photographic concepts as well as some more advanced techniques. The course will include hands-on demonstrations with the camera as well as basic digital image editing techniques.

Knowledge about the development of photography. The changing way of New era of photography.
Camera parts and types (Students have to bring his owner’s manual to this class). Menu items and shooting modes (Auto vs. Scene vs. Priority).
Assignment 1: Photograph a subject of interest to the student using different shooting modes to see how that effects the captured images. Student have to bring 10 images to class on external media (flash or hard drive).
Image show and Presentation of influential black and white photographers Black & White conversion practice Exposure compensation. Concept of high and low-key Studio session (External real life studio session in addition to inhouse studio place / Classroom)
Assignment 2: Students will continue to practice exposure compensation with hiscamera. He will have to bring 10 high- and low-key images to share on external media (flash or hard drive).
The rules of Photographs. The frames & Compositions will be discussed.
Image show and Presentation of photographers who primarily work in portraiture. Discussion of portrait genres and lighting techniques (studio, natural) Review aperture, shutter speed, ISO. Practice editing and cropping. Studio session (External real life studio session in addition to inhouse studio place / Classroom)
Assignment 3: Students will practice shooting portraits and try different lighting techniques. He will have to bring 10 portraits & 10 Pictorials, in the next week. If the student is havng a tripod, he has to bring it for next class.
Image show and Discussion on composition tips and seeing exercises. Experiment with night photography and low light shooting. Shooting will be done outside during class time in groups I Night/ low light situation
Assignment 4: Student will have to find a subject of his choice and spend time working the subject. He has to Practice rules of composition & seeing exercises. He has to bring 10 (5 night or low light) images on external media (flash or hard drive).
Image Show and Presentation on Photography as Contemporary Art . Discussion about conceptual practices Brainstorm ideas for Assignment 5 and begin working/ planning in class
Assignment 5: Student have to shoot 10 images that are conceptually driven, based on his own interests or inspired by the lecture.
Photography for News. How to merge Photo content and Journalism.
Product Photography, Jewellery, food, Industrial tools, Consumer durable products, Still life with light handling, composition sense, aesthetics etc.
Image Show and Presentation and discussion on how to create a successful body of work Sequence editing Trouble shooting/ Course review
Assignment 6: Students will Bring in a series of images 10 or more images that demonstrate the use of sequence editing/ story telling Next week he will bring images he would like to edit in Photoshop
Introduction to Photoshop Covering the basics of editing, fixing blemishes, colour correcting, and selective edits
Final Assignment: Students will create a series of 10 images on a subject of hischoice. There will be discussion on options for final output. (book , calendars or prints).
Working in class to ready images for final output. Web vs. print. Colour space conversion. Upload and order final products. Photo Show & Final presentation.
The main aspect is hands on practice with camera. The methods will be-
1. Class Lectures: the basics of camera, parts of it & types of lens etc.
2. Demonstrations: Famous photo shoots in each genre will be demonstrated in the class.
3. Practical: indoor & outdoor photography including several outing programmes (students have to bear the cost).
4. Presentations: slide show with details of technical perspective of the photo.
5. Assignments: to achieve creativity & confidence.
6. Discussions: regular class discussion & project feedback.
